Biologists witness first case of a #shark intentionally making sounds phys.org/news/2025-03-biologis

Evidence of active sound production by a shark: Carolin Nieder et al. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi

"the clicks are made by the #sharks rubbing their teeth together. Such clicking sounds could serve as a means to momentarily confuse predators, such as fur seals... it is unlikely the sounds are calls for help from others of their kind, as most of the frequencies were higher than the range of shark hearing."

Couple months ago we had a load of very muddy (silt etc) gravel dumped on our driveway. I just found a shark tooth in it.

I assume the contractor got it from a local pit. So Billund. Midle of Jutland, on the west side of the ridge.

Assuming the tooth came with the gravel: any idea how old this tooth is likely to be?

Apart from bats, I also have a few sharks that are looking for a new home. Sorry they are really pink! And a light blue one.

But there is more! Here is a discount link for them so your shark will be -15% for the whole week! :neofoxpeekowo: https://ko-fi.com/keeya/link/SHARKWEEK

You can of course ignore the discount and pay the original price but I won't be mad if you take the -15% of course. More than happy to see them get a new home. :3 Actually, I don't even know how you can get rid of the discount once you've activated it via the link so take it! :neofoxgooglyshocked:

Vaginas make their own lubricant!

We bet you didn‘t know that vaginas and sharks have something in common? The scientifically proven fact is that they both contain the substance called squalene. This exists in shark livers and is a natural vaginal lubricant.

Not many other body parts can say that. When you get aroused, more blood flows to your genitals, which cues you to get wet. That lubrication primarily comes through the vaginal walls, though you also get some wetness from the labia minora and from cervical discharge #vulva #vagina #pussy #wet #lubrication #aroused #arousal #shark

Think you know the outcome of seal vs Great White? Think again… What a phenomenal piece of footage this is. The BBC may have had issues recently, but their wildlife documentaries are second to none. As for Sir David Attenborough, the term “national treasure” still doesn’t quite do him justice…

Fossil Research Identifies New 340 million years old #Shark Species at Mammoth Cave National Park home.nps.gov/maca/learn/news/f paper: doi.org/10.1017/jpa.2024.40

"Nick-named Chipmunk #sharks for their small size and chisel-like front teeth and crushing back teeth, members of the Obruchevodidae were between 3-4 inches in length. Their small size allowed them to avoid larger predators as they foraged on crustaceans, worms, and small brachiopods found along the sea floor"
