This tool is a single web page that uses #javascript (running locally) to compute the root password for your device from it's serial number (located on the device's settings page). There is also a link to the original #Python script that this tool is derived from.

These 4 "devices" were on my nightstand just now. Tip o' the iceburg in my life, seriously.
The goal would be to capture these bits and such without scanning and cameras and such. its wasted time.

Ich hab eine Idee, aber keine Ahnung: Ich hätte gern einen Anstecker mit E-Ink-Display und Anzeigenwechsel per Knopfdruck. Also ein magnetischer oder ansteckbarer Button, der zwischen mindestens zwei Anzeigen wechseln kann.

Anwendungsbeispiele:

@kiwix I wonder if it makes sense to have a kiwix branded ereader (eink? etc...), where it's designed specifically to work well with a full dump of wikipedia?

Would an SD card slot be enough or would it make more sense cost wise to have an nvme drive onboard perhaps?

Raw frame from Blade Runner and how it looks on my color e-ink "very slow movie player" frame. This thing is impossible to photograph because of how reflective the glass is but it looks amazing in person. The color e-ink really looks so cool / very different from a grid of backlit pixels. Wish I could capture it better!

finally took some time and implemented the API endpoints and image conversion so the #TRMNL #eink display can fetch and show data locally from my #homelab mini server setup - next i need to optimize the views and renders

Weekend project complete, after being shelved for over a year! Sure feels good.

10' e-ink display connected to my RaspberryPi and serving a dashboard with my upcoming calendar events, weather, and trivia.

I brushed up on Python, learned some Arduino, and made more use of the RPi that's always on anyway (because of #syncthing )

Tages-Kalender-Projekt:
E-Ink Display läuft als Raspi-Shield. Kalender-Termine kommen rein über Google-API, Bild wird generiert und ans Display geschickt (alles Python).
Fehlt noch ein Halter/Rahmen. Dann muss ich schauen wie ich das mache mit täglichen Updates. Laufen lassen und morgens "hydrieren"? Dann wäre das Raspi 23,9 Stunden am Tag sinnlos an. Vllt. gibts ne simple Lösung dass es mogentlich kurz an geht, das Display updatet, und sich wieder shutdownt. #raspberrypi #pimoroni #eink
