#Proxmox virtualization often goes along with the great Proxmox Backup Server - and we always want statistics! Let's get our metrics of PBS in Grafana!

In this HowTo, we will quickly install and configure the pbs-exporter for hashtag#Prometheus on a Proxmox Backup Server system, add a token for the user and install the hashtag#Grafana dashboard. - #devops #homelab #netops #virtualization #backup #pbs #proxmoxbackupserver

ProxLB 1.0.7 (an opensource DRS alike solution for #Proxmox clusters) is just around the corner!

1.0.7 will be the last version before I'm going to publish the new refactored code base in a modern and object oriented way. Version 1.1.0 squashes some more bugs that were postponed on the current code base and makes the overall future handling much easier (including new features).

I need to take a step back and reassess my network setup. Here’s what I have:
• Proxmox VE running on a mini PC, directly connected to my router (no VLANs).
• The Proxmox host has a single virtual adapter with a static private IP, which is also reserved on the router.
• A Cloudflared LXC (running in Proxmox) with its own reserved private IP on the same subnet as the Proxmox host.
• A VM on the same subnet running Docker, where the containers are on a user-defined bridge network, but this bridge network is on a different subnet than the host.

My goal:

I want the Cloudflared LXC to properly route public hostname(s) to the appropriate Docker containers (which provide public services) on the VM.

The challenge:

Since the Docker containers are on a different subnet than the VM itself, how should I structure my networking so that:
1. Cloudflared can route requests correctly to the Docker services.
2. The setup remains clean and maintainable.

What’s the best approach to configure this? Should I adjust Proxmox networking, use additional routes, or take a different approach?

Hey #homelab users!

You probably already know me by my free @BoxyBSD project and I often got asked about IPv4 addresses. Currebtly, I tinker with a new but also honestly not free service. The idea is creating a static IP service for homelab users. I'm aware that there're already some around, so what could be some benefits here?

- Static single #IPv4 & #IPv6 /48 (so you can subnet your homelab to several /64 without breaking #slacc)
- Bigger subnets (IPv4: /29, /28, /27 | IPv6: /32)
- Full RIPE personalization (inc. abuse & Co)
- #OpenVPN, #Wireguard, #GRE Support
- Auto configure (e.g., you load the wireguard config on any client and the addresses Arena immediately bound to that interface)
- Split usage / multiple tunnels: Use different IPs from your subnets at different locations
- Integration into #BoxyBSD
- Location in Germany or Netherlands (selectable)
- Hosted on redundant #FreeBSD nodes

Pricing:
- The starter package probably around 10€/month (not more) + 15€ setup including 2T traffic
- Pricing for addiriinal/larger subnets not yet sure, probably higher setup fees to avoid hoppers and spamers to keep the addresses clean
- Optional traffic packages (when exceeding speed Limit of 10Mbit which should still be ok for most homelabs)

World this be interesting? Im aware that many ones already do this by VPS themselves, so this might just be a bit easier and optionally offering whole networks including RIPE personalizations.

TLDR: If you know Hadoop and live close enough to Belfast to commute, you should apply.

I've posted this before, but it's been a little while #fedihire. Also, adding some additional information this time. This is my team. We are already on three continents and 6 timezones, but #Belfast is a new location for the team. I know literally nothing about the office.

I know a lot of places Hadoop is the past, and sure we see a ton of #Spark (I do not understand why that is not listed in the job description but maybe because they want to emphasis that we need hadoop expertise?). You can see all the projects we support at openlogic.com/supported-techno

It depends on how you count, as I was on two teams during tradition, but I've been on this team for over 5 years now. It's a great team. I've been with the company now right at 7 years. I cannot say how we compare to Belfast employers but this is well more than double where I have stayed at any other employer (even if you count UNC-CH as a single employer rather than the different departments, I've beat them by well over a year at this point).

My manager has been on this team for almost 15 years. His manager has been with this team for almost as long as me, but with the company much longer. His manager has been here almost as long as me (I actually did orientation with him). His manager is a her and she's been here almost as long as me. So, obviously, this is a place where people want to stay!

Our team has a lot of testosterone, but when I started, our CEO was a woman. The GM for the division is a woman.

My manager is black. The manager of our sister team is black.

I think you'll find our team and company is concerned about your work product and not how you dress, what bathroom you use, or the color of your skin.

If you take a look at our careers page, you'll see this:

Work Should Be Fun
There’s always something to look forward to as a Perforce employee: scavenger hunts, community lunches, summer events, virtual games, and year-end celebrations just to name a few.

We take that shit seriously. Nauseatingly so sometimes, lol.

Actually, we take everything on the careers page seriously, but I know from experience that some places treat support like they are a shoe sole to be worn down. Not so here. It's not all rainbows and sunshine, of course. The whole point is that the customer is having an issue! Our customers treat us with respect because management demands that they do.
