Since I am not aware of the diversity of phone OS, I am asking here.

I have an Huawei P30 that I use for recordings only. So only Wifi, a camera and a video app is required.

I would like to give a re-installation in the sense of #unplugtrump and whomever a try, but maybe it is already too old?
Does it still make sense for my purpose?

I mean, I could also just simply reset it and deny internet traffic on my router 😂

On the other hand it might be funny project.

“Huawei together with Chinese chipmaker SMIC — which is also under US sanctions — has made a key breakthrough in chipmaking, improving the yield of its latest AI chips to about 40 per cent, doubling from 20 per cent a year ago.”

“By sanctioning Huawei and cutting it off from advanced US chips, Washington has become the greatest driver of the technological self-sufficiency it sought to prevent.”

That is true. In fact, any more sophisticated #BigTech device should be avoided for this reason. In particular if it is from the #US or #China.

I write "device" b/c any time there is hardware that runs with a proprietary software or even an operating system, the user looses control (e.g. an #Amazon #Alexa or a #Tesla, or a #Huawei smartphone as examples for the latter, an #Android or #Apple app or #Windows #OS for the former.)

Just using browser software and turning...

Huawei improves production of AI chips in breakthrough for China’s tech goals: yield of its latest AI chips to close to 40%, doubling from 20% about a year ago. Compared to TSMC’s estimated 60% yield for production of Nvidia’s H100 AI processor.

I have a #Huawei E5573c #MiFi Hotspot that works well as a network device, without any additional drivers, when I connect it to a Linux PC. However, when I connect it to a #FritzBox as a upstream modem, it will immediately loose its mobile connection and say "No connection". The FritzBox sees the device and the USB communication seems to work – but the mobile connection cuts out, when it's connected to the FB. Any ideas? Is this a provider setting?
