Es war viel los bei der Mathare Foundation im Mathare Slum in Nairobi.
Teilnehmer und Teilnehmerinnen an einem von Katharina Nickoleit veranstalteten Kurs nahmen als Flugpaten gespendeten Laptops von @Labdoo_D für die #Mathare #Foundation mit. Vielen Dank für die tolle Aktion.
Das Projekt vor Ort informierte dabei über seine Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen und bedankte sich für die IT-Spenden.

Thoroughly enjoying Foundation, based on the Isaac Asimov classic which I read as a youth.
It's about galactic empires, so an easy sell to me but I'm thoroughly on board with where they've taken the source material.
We are onto the second season now, already I'm telling me wife I could be a better Emperor of the Galaxy because I do the dishes, and none of those guys do.
Keep it real fellow Space gods, do some chores.

Removed all the fence and rocks and bricks from around the house, apart from the two large concrete beams on the half-assedly renovated part. Need to pull those out very carefully.

All filled back in and raked to slope away from the house for now.

Need to fetch the German lottery machine and buy a bunch of stuff, like a dumptruck full of sand/aggregate to continue on the foundation repair.

Pickaxe digging up a bunch of fly ash bricks that were two layers deep with concrete between them forming a flower bed around the foundation, which is all bad ideas. Freshly disturbed dark soil and some vegetation are around. The foundation here has been patched by some unmotivated person with a bucket of mortar.
Side of the house, disturbed soil partially raked over already. Towards the far end near a wheelbarrow full of bricks, a trench has coughed up another short length of concrete pylon.
Same view, now with the bricks and concrete all gone and the trench closed again and raked over to form a smooth grade away from the foundation.

#Swing #Cocoa: It isn't suprising when you look into it. For #WebObjects #Apple not only reimplemented #Foundation in #Java (com.webobjects.foundation), they also made a #Cocoa abstraction layer that mimics layout and behaviour in #Swing (com.webobjects.eointerface.swing).

That one still works (fosstodon.org/@lazarus/1142527), while the bridge to Cocoa has been deprecated with WebObjects 5.4 (and thus is not part of its docs anymore).

DST change reminded me of that time QA discovered that, if you build a date from NSDateComponents, any missing items will not be set to zero, but will be set to the corresponding value from the current date and time.

Which meant that my March 30th, 12:00 would get random one-minute-drift like 12:00:59 because the user entered the date right before a minute change.

Makes sense for the date, but was a bit bewildering for the time, especially seconds.

Alter, #foundation macht mich echt fertig. Zeitsprünge mal um 10, mal um 100 Jahre, mal vor, mal zurück, und die vom Imperium sehen immer gleich aus, weil sie Klone sind. Der, der eben noch der mittelalte war ist dann auf einmal der uralte und stirbt, während er in der nächsten Rückblende wieder aussieht wie eben noch der Jüngste. 🤯

Ich glaub, ich sollte lieber die Dinos weiter gucken.
