Snowshoeing with my friends up a very steep hill. I had my jacket tied to my waterpack and it somehow got loose and fell off at the top on the mountain. I realized this when we were at the bottom. I was ready to abandon the jacket, but my friends refused because it was a brand new jacket and so I turned back and ran up that hill so my friends didn’t have to climb it all the way again. Everyone I passed on the trail said, “YOU’RE the jacket person? We saw it, it’s still there.” Haha everyone was so nice and no one took the jacket. I burned so many calories that day. 😅

This little bird came to sit with us in the rain at the Hedges Hotel in Northern Ireland. I recently lost my dad and he used to love and care for birds (he had so many finches as pets). My friend softly said, “maybe it’s your dad that wanted to come sit with us for a while.” I choked back tears. I like to think that it was. ❤️‍🩹

I think the sun will miss those clouds, making it a less-than-spectacular sunrise.
In the west, inch by inch, the moon is creeping through the trees, looking for a parking spot, and I'm shooting two photos every minute of the way. I'll make you a movie of it later @MaJ1 , when I get the camera downloaded and sorted. Still running East , every other minute, to check the approaching sunrise.

@KorimakoEcology the role of theory in #ecology has been argued for decades. If you can't simplify, you won't make any progress, and nothing is really understood. I agree improvements have to be relevant, but overly complicated means you can never identify *any drivers. Always beware of any "complete" ecosystem model that someone proposes because it will be almost entirely guesses and opinion to parameterize it. Better to start with empirically derived and deterministic relationships. #MyView
