It's a real hoot! The questions everyone asks are such fun! But I'm just checking in while editing, so, I'm good.

I plan to avoid Death by self-discipline in April by allowing myself to focus on a few things instead of a few hundred things. Which happens when I am indecisive and try to do what I think I should be doing instead of trusting that I'll make progress while doing what comes naturally to me. In short, I'm trying to micromanage myself less.

When Freya is hunting a couple of mercenaries in the catacombs of Brightwall city. The city its self guides her to the lowest level using barely perceptible movement of the lining moss on the walls. She lures them in, the moss grows around her bare feet, and she connects with it and uses it to ensnare them. Clouds part to cast light on an old, discarded, ornate chair covered in moss she can sit on as she interrogates the invaders.

It's bursting with it. Especially Freya's home, House Cylinders. As well as the attic, and all the forests.

These things don't talk, but the attic manifests books of stories that happen around it. The house its self is very close to the Memory Realm, so has gained a peculiar sentience that is mostly expressed through echos, creeks, and drafts.

Some forests have manifested a form for their collective sentience, like Intamar here.

I make sigils when I need them. So, I meditate on what is lacking, what I require help with to see more clearly or let flourish within me, and then, I look up what these terms often look like. They don't need to be runes, but they keep that sort of abstract component that evades the static of different connotations.

This time sigil is a reaction to how I imagine plants view time and how our stories flow and create connections.

My favourite art form is a good question... I like work that is intimate, personal, emotional. I need to be able to empathise from one soul to another. While I can see the value in minimalism or large-scale installation, I prefer the ones that are precious. Does that make sense?

I often find myself illustrating something I haven't written yet, putting it aside, and then encountering it again in my writing. It's funny how much credit I can take for things my subconscious does.

For example, I made this image months before I encountered the scene in the writing.

In my mind, Ethereal is moody film noir style animated fantasy with a hint of realism.

Honestly, the spell work in Ethereal can be used if they align with the caster's intension, and they use the words as a conduit.

This has triggered lucid dreams in one of my beta readers who has no notion of witchcraft but found some words she didn't know she was missing. Which is a short spell addition Cedric did in book 12 to peek into the Rascal's dreams.
