@libreoffice We still see people recommending Excel and throwing around those "Excel tools" (aka spreadsheets with some formulas).
Please stop endorsing spreadsheet apps for anything else than spreadsheets. Better use applications for numerical computations like #NumeRe or #R, which produce understandable, mainainable and debuggable solutions.
Some #R #rstats about the packages on the repositories: #CRAN has 722 packages that use Bioconductor (3%), #Bioconductor has 2802 packages that use CRAN's packages (77%).
1.3% CRAN and 0.6% Bioconductor respectively use package outside these two repositories. But 91% and 93% use packages on their respective repos. 8% and 3% do not have any dependency on external packages (but could depend on system dependencies).
I'm starting to think letting statisticians do OOP is a bad idea. This r function uses a complex data type as input, but the maintainers of the package that defined that type have changed the structure of the data type, so now I have to jump through some hoops to create an object of the old type. Got to really suck for all the r programmers who don't have a CompSci background.

I'm facing a problem in R, any help and input would be much appreciated.
Short version: I need to generate a PDF report about survey data (with some text and a plot for each survey item) but the number of items needs to be dynamic.

This is exactly why, in the field of #openscience young researchers should take some time to get accustomed to tools like #R and its packages. Proprietary software is often advertised for its GUI, but although these tools may be easy to learn, it will later be a waste of time to make your data reusable outside of them.
