PS: Parallel arbeitet die Regierung in der Schweiz leider auch an der Planung zur Abschaffung ihres (noch) guten Datenschutz Niveau. 
Also dass ich mich für #protonmail auf meinem #unplugtrump entschieden habe, war für mich persönlich jetzt eine sehr gute Wahl. Import von 20k emails inkl. eigener Domain hat perfekt geklappt, läuft zuverlässig und schnell, die Apps auf iOS/Desktop klappen auch gut, VPN läuft auch anstandslos, ebenso der Passwortmanager. Proton kann SMTP/IMAP ohne gesonderte Tools, aber nur in den bezahlten Versionen.
Have been moving away from Google. Gone for Proton for mail, calendar, and drive. Also replacing apps with Fossify.
Still running Android so still not fully severed the link but moving in the right direction.

@heisinen not only is it just European, because I think most people don't really care about that, the main benefit of (most) these alternatives is that they offer more #privacy and #security especially in the case of #tuta #tutanota and #proton #protonmail the others I have not checked.
If Privacy and security are good enough, there is no data the company is able to share if the government asks. Example: Signal messager got a (judge?) order to provide info. But they only had a phone number
The last segment of my working life was doing technical writing for software companies in #SiliconValley. Understanding the software was easy, I had been a programmer for a long time before becoming a #techWriter.
The hard part was trying to put things into terms my audience would 'get' and I really admire people who can do that.
That’s why I devour everything @Daojoan sends out.
She got me to #Vivaldi and #Joplin and helped me see that privacy and software freedom is more than #LibreOffice and #ProtonMail.
