I introduced #PaulasJarOfPositivity here: climatejustice.social/@PaulaTo

Since then I had to draw from the jar twice due to urges to post cynical comments about political news.
The first time I drew "get in touch with someone you didn't contact in a while", so that's exactly what I did.
The second time I drew "call for donations to a good cause". It was a perfect fit for the cynical thought I had, which I'm going to post in the thread unlisted and CWd. I've decided to post it, because its not that bad/cynical - but still its not the positive kind of messaging I want to spread more. (2/3)

Climate Justice SocialPaulaToThePeople (@PaulaToThePeople@climatejustice.social)Attached: 1 image #PaulasJarOfPositivity Inspired by a post by @Ruth_Mottram@fediscience.org I'll try to avoid sarcastic posts about politics in the future and instead every time I feel the urge to post such a post, take a piece of paper out of this jar and do something positive. A little background: They say humor is a coping strategy, and I agree, but only some forms of humor. I believe that sarcasm for example is a maladaptive defense mechanism. If I post something sarcastic, I feel a little better for a while, but it doesn't help in the long run. It only contributes to an almost toxic social climate. I already started outsourcing humorous posts to a different account. @asap@sloth.es is where I try to post funny nonsense, but with a positive message (mindfulness). So irony or satire, but not sarcasm. So now I started this positivity jar and put my first ideas inside. Its all really little things (for now) and none of them cost money (which I don't have). Little acts of helping others and spreading love. One of them is even just "do something good for yourself". I plan to fill it up way more and hope y'all give me good ideas too. So if I can keep this up you'll no longer see new public sarcastic posts by me (like most of the ones I link to in my second pinned post - for now). Instead you'll see reports of my journey with the jar. (If I can't bite back I might post the sarcastic idea CWd and unlisted below the jar-report.) So let's see how it goes. #SpreadLove #LittleActsOfKindness #positivity #mindfulness

If you can, please donate to #TransRescue!
transrescue.org/donations/bis-

They save #queer people from harm, mostly through migration.
There are lots of places wordldwide, that are not save for queer people right now so this work is super important.

If you can't donate, please
:boost: spread the message
:fediverse: follow them @trans_rescue
:QueerFlag: show solidarity.

This call for donations is brought to you by #PaulasJarOfPositivity. More info in the thread. (1/3)
