Inspired by a post by @Ruth_Mottram I'll try to avoid sarcastic posts about politics in the future and instead every time I feel the urge to post such a post, take a piece of paper out of this jar and do something positive.
A little background:
They say humor is a coping strategy, and I agree, but only some forms of humor. I believe that sarcasm for example is a maladaptive defense mechanism. If I post something sarcastic, I feel a little better for a while, but it doesn't help in the long run. It only contributes to an almost toxic social climate.
I already started outsourcing humorous posts to a different account.
@asap is where I try to post funny nonsense, but with a positive message (mindfulness). So irony or satire, but not sarcasm.
So now I started this positivity jar and put my first ideas inside. Its all really little things (for now) and none of them cost money (which I don't have). Little acts of helping others and spreading love. One of them is even just "do something good for yourself".
I plan to fill it up way more and hope y'all give me good ideas too.
So if I can keep this up you'll no longer see new public sarcastic posts by me (like most of the ones I link to in my second pinned post - for now). Instead you'll see reports of my journey with the jar.
(If I can't bite back I might post the sarcastic idea CWd and unlisted below the jar-report.)
So let's see how it goes.
