@mlanger
Mum and Dad used to #hire #punts on the #Thames at #Henley and #Wey at #Guildford and #Godalming and take we three children on picnics during the 1950s, so we were used to day trips on small open #boats, but the #Llangollen trip was the first time we'd been near a #canal or stayed overnight on a #boat
Taking place shortly before my 14th birthday did make it a pretty formative event.
I'm pleased to report today's discovery that #Guildford has its own official town Womble who promotes recycling.
Apparently Guildford the Womble has been with #GuildfordBoroughCouncil for decades and comes out on special occasions, such as #GreenDay today to mark the start of #BigGreenWeek.
No prizes for guessing who's wearing the costume in the photo!
That's certainly one way to take it.
How do you like yours?
Me? I'm like that bloke there - with a tasty baked good.
#FaceJourneyTreat time. That run was a tough one for me. Way more up and down than I usually get in #Stockholm. Now I know what to train!
Thanks English countryside sign. This really helps!
Thankfully my friend and colleague Luigi (@gigetto) knew where to go.
This looks a lot like the church in "Four Weddings & a Funeral." Sorry, Luigi (@gigetto), it's not. We'll keep searching!
The branches verily reach for the warmth, no?
Time for a #run through Teletubby land. I can hear that baby squealing with delight, can't you?
Looking back to 1066 is tough work. Nice to have a little G&T to help out.
Having fun storming the castle...!
Did you bring your torch and pitchfork?
That's quite a pile o' stones ya' got there Willy, you conqueror you!
Castle site stretching back to 1066, gardens since 1800s. Colors of April 2024. Lovely place for a stroll!
Methinks there's a restless One under there. Best break out the stakes. You ready? On the count of 1...2...
The story is interesting, but the story pretty much winds up in the same place. So. Why sweat the small stuff?
Study in gray, modern and ancient at the same time. 1500s school, 2020s lady.
Needs cropping. Maybe later!
Industrial archeology is fascinating. Here is an old mill, now providing local electricity. Water power, built in 1800s, powering the 2020s.
