The autistic community is vastly underemployed, and even if you are fortunate enough to find work, there be dragons.
Disclosing your disability doesn’t always end well. Instead of getting reasonable accommodations, you might get let go…for “reasons”.

@autism101 @actuallyautistic Yes. I have been wanting to disclose, but I have been concerned about the consequences. On the other hand I think it could be good for any autistic students at my school to know that there is someone autistic who is working there.
@Ferles @autism101 @actuallyautistic Same here. It might help students to see openly autistic teachers.
But I'm also very hesitant. Stereotypes and prejudice are very powerful and I fear negative effects (also by students). And I'm not quite sure what kind of accomodations could be allowed to me in our crappy school system.
I think it's more important how we treat our students and that we respect their needs.
