Root Moose<p>I installed Organic Maps on my iPhone several months ago but didn't really use it much. Over the weekend I started using it w/ CarPlay in my car.</p><p>I like it. It's a little more "technical" looking than Apple's mapping and better looking than Android (I haven't used Android Auto in more than a year). Sort of a middle ground between the two and I prefer it.</p><p>The map movement on the screen is kinda old-timey, quaint looking but I don't mind it. The map rotation is not smooth, herky-jerky in ~15 deg increments and the pointer "vibrates" but it is accurate and kinda neat to watch. Perhaps there are options to add map movement smoothing but I couldn't find it.</p><p>The dynamic zooming and perspective changes are very neat as well.</p><p>Routing worked perfectly fine. The ETA calcs are not as accurate as the other platforms (I figure the others use crowd sourced real road average speeds - which is scraping and processing user data effectively).</p><p>I have a bunch of feature request ideas - do I dare open a bunch of tix for the backlog? Geo Rg<p>Kleiner Nachtrag zur Google Maps alternative organic maps: Die Opensource Navigation ist zwar in der Funktion nicht ganz so aufgepeppt wie Google Maps, aber man kann damit sogar mit einem Handy im Flugmodus navigieren. Organic Maps hat auch Restaurants, Sehenswürdigkeiten etc und sogar verweise auf Wikipedia.
