At the moment i am trying to achieve something like intentional camera movement on my second hand smartphone. Using an additional frame buffer and some fragment shader code. Here is a first result.

The square in front of Ulm Münster. There are only a few people out and walking. The picture looks like a very shaky long exposure shot.

The opposite of monochrome Monday. This one is part of a project I did in 2023 looking for the hidden color in the grey pacific NW days. #intentionalcameramovement can really bring out stunning shapes and colors from a simple bit of sunset. I think I have over a thousand images from just an hours worth of light, so many different shapes and hues and textures.

The image depicts an abstract landscape scene created using intentional camera movement (ICM). The colors present suggest a serene sunset in the Pacific Northwest, USA. The sky features soft, warm tones of beige and peach blending into cooler shades of blue and gray. On my way home, I suddenly felt the urge to try some #ICM again - probably because I’d walked that same old path a hundred times and there was just nothing left to catch my eye. My inner photographer insisted: “Must. Press. Shutter.” So I did, and a quiet thrill set in: What might those images become? What hidden wonders might they reveal? As I continued on my way, I let myself muse over potential editing ideas.

By now, editing my photos is almost like meditation. If I go a few days without it, I feel as if I’m missing something essential - like putting not only my camera, but also a piece of my creative soul aside. Ansel Adams once said, “The negative is the score, the print is the performance.” In other words, without the editing, it’s only half the show - like a choir that rehearses but never performs before an audience. And that’s exactly why I need it: that little celebratory moment where raw material transforms into a resonant symphony… or maybe a funky jazz improv, depending on the mood. The main thing is giving the soul something to do!
