While (most) corporate media outlets are ignoring or downplaying the #HandsOff rallies, indie and nonprofits are not! For example, the #Philadelphia #Inquirer covered #HandsOffPhilly and other Delaware Valley protests. Support your #localnews that is likewise covering these events. Here’s a gift link courtesy of my Inky sub:
@GottaLaff Here’s a gift link courtesy of my #Inquirer subscription:

A new #WillBunch piece in the #Inquirer puts into eloquent prose why those numbers cited in #CoryBooker’s press release matter and how it will motivate voters and electeds alike. Must-read via this gift link courtesy of my Inky sub. #Democracy #GoodTrouble #USpol

First up, 1 of 2 articles in my hometown #Philadelphia #Inquirer. (Gift link!) An op-ed by the Inky Editorial Board:
“Over the course of 25 hours and 5 minutes, Cory Booker points the way to oppose Trump’s abuses of power”

Last thing — 47 is about giving the University of Pennsylvania is about to get the Columbia treatment — but over allowing Lia Thomas, who is #trans, to swim.
Thomas graduated from Penn three YEARS ago.
Good reporting in the #Philadelphia #Inquirer. Gift link courtesy of yours truly.
Philly Inquirer speaks truth to power: "Don’t expect any serious efforts from an unserious man. We’ve seen this show before. Get ready for another four years of chaos, corruption, and incompetence."

@StillIRise1963 I just read this in the paper edition of the #Philadelphia #Inquirer*. Powerful words, frightening times.
*Yes, I get a physical newspaper, every day for decades. I like reading offline and I cut out things. In fact, my 88yo mom still gets the paper and she cuts out articles too. The best part is when we cut out the same piece to share with one another — this has happened more than once, lol.
@mastodonmigration It is totally possible to put together a indie / nonprofit media list from which to get your news! Like @ProPublica, @democracydocket, @guardian, and any number of newsletters or pods like Daily Beans (Mueller She Wrote). My hometown #Philadelphia #Inquirer is owned by the nonprofit Lenfest Center for Journalism: https://www.inquirer.com
@soc_i_ety Agree with @mastodonmigration
… And you do not have to be less informed! I curate my news differently now, with the #Philly #Inquirer, a couple of NJ-centric indie outlets, and some newsletters and pods. It’s a pain to start, but very manageable once you get going.
Vital read from the #Philadelphia #Inquirer:
“Philly scientists brace for a fight over #vaccines and health policy with the Trump administration”
Gift link from yours truly — but if y’all are looking for solid, local indie pubs to support, consider a sub to my hometown Inky. It’s run by the nonprofit Lenfest Center for #Journalism, not a zillionaire kowtowing to Mango Mussolini. #healthcare
@Remittancegirl @joeinwynnewood @mastodonmigration @Devilstower I stopped watching cable some time ago anyway. My news-consumption regimen is unrecognizable from just a few months ago. (Except for my hometown, non-profit run #Philadelphia #Inquirer.)
@GottaLaff jfc … I’ll gladly stick with my hometown Inky, run by the nonprofit Lenfest Center for Journalism. #Philadelphia #Inquirer

@GottaLaff @willbunch #WillBunch is golden. I feel very fortunate to have such a talented writer on my region's paper of record, the #Philadelphia #Inquirer.
@shoq Nonprofit #journalism isn’t a panacea, but it is one option. The Lenfest Institute, created by the late philanthropist Gerry Lenfest, enabled the #Philadelphia #Inquirer to avoid acquisition by a hedge fund or similar organization.
@shoq @GreenFire FYI my local newspaper, the #Philadelphia #Inquirer, is just such a nonprofit thanks to the late Gerry Lenfest. (I've been a subscriber for years.) #journalism
@MariaHill Is the Banner here on #Mastodon?
FYI locally the #Philadelphia #Inquirer also is run as a nonprofit, thank goodness.
