@ascentale @bikenite A1. Eastern PA. I'm so late!

Bicycle smiles this week in no particular order:
-Got to go for my first real ride on the bike, and not the stationary, this year.
-Got to get the replacement bile for kid, needed some love, and then realized I had the perfect donor bike at home to pull parts from. That was a huge smile. The shifters need love but it simulates a single speed rather nicely in the meantime.

Sometimes, when I push up a steep bit of trail, my eBike makes unholy cracking sounds. LBS thinks it may be belt tension, so I spent the day trying to fix that.
Belt was "at 30Hz" when I started, and it should be between 40Hz and 55Hz. I managed to get it to around 52Hz or so. (Yes, I find it weird to write about tension in Hz) #eBike #BikeMaintenance

Then I proceeded to changing the BB on the fat bike, because it was making noises that can only be described as "a little grindy".
For some reason, it is always the non-drive side... but this one lasted 1800 km, better than the usual 1300.
Changing a BB is hard work, and so I will try and figure out the creaking handle bar / stem at another time.

@znetwork We love #SantaCruz Bike Church! And here, in neighboring #Monterey County, similar efforts include Greenfield Community Science Workshop’s weekly bike ed labs in Greenfield (as mentioned in our Summer Bike Buzz bikemonterey.org/bike-buzz-sum) and occasional GCSW bike workshops in other #Salinas Valley Communities (bikemonterey.org/salinas-valle), i.e., #Chualar, #Greenfield, #Gonzales, #KingCity, #SanArdo, #SanLucas, #Soledad. Among other bike ed efforts in Monterey County: bike repair and maintenance classes at Monterey County Probation Dept Youth Center, the first high school bike tech classes in Monterey County, launched by Bicycling Monterey in 2012. bikemonterey.org/probation-dep

Swapped the rear wheel on the bike to the one with the trainer tire. Changed the tube in the road wheel after a failed attempt to patch its hole. Found a spare magnet for the speed/cadence sensor and put it on the trainer wheel. Set up the trainer again. Tightened up the shifter cable and adjusted everything to shift smoothly again. And, most spiffy of all, replaced the old, worn chain with a new one.

(full disclosure: Husband actually did the chain replacement and the shifting adjustments.)

Hello Followers. I have a #BikeMaintenance question:

I'm replacing my brake cables and have these spacers? washers? I don't know what, on the unsheathed cable that runs along my frame to the rear brakes. I received replacements with my new cables so presumably they do something.

What are they for? My best guess is to keep the cable from rubbing the frame. Can anyone confirm or have a better idea?
