EN 1/4 After a bit of retrogaming and going through the toots, this old man feels nostalgic and wants to go back in his memories with you. If there is any interest I many do this from time to time and try to awake the gaming feel and imagination from somewhere back in time.
Today a game that coined parts of me, even though I didn’t understand in when I first played it. It totally abducted me in another world: Ultima IV.

EN 2/4 I remember when my uncle bought the game and I was allowed to take a look into the box. A cloth map of the world, a metal Ankh, two books full with drawings, not to speak of the cover of the game. The monsters pictured came to live in my young mind’s eye. Woods would have effect on the line of sight, cities to be entered, people to talk two. Just the choice of class that came over morale questions totally took me in, even more when I understood English and got what it was all about.
EN 3/4 The virtue system accompanied me in my mind a long time and I wore the Ankh around my neck for a long time. The assignment of the eight virtues to the three principles was totally logical for me and in my idealistic youth I wished people would strive to live after those virtues and principles, because I thought the world would be a better place. I think if I tried hard, I would get the symbol with the three circles and lines back together.
EN 4/4 On the other hand we had an almost fully used keyboard, with commands to giddy up horses, fire canons or jimmy locks, all with their own key.
Enough of nostalgia and old folks talking. I hope I could awake the one or other memory, or take someone on a travel back in time. It seems I can't do this with few words.
Yes, you've succeeded in doing just that... transporting us! :0)
There's all that magic of discovery and fascination. Game boxes in those days were really something.
I really enjoyed reading your memories. Thank you! :0)
I don't know the game at all. But I have the MSDos version on GOG. I was also planning to pick up the Sega rom to find out.
@WoodooProd Actually I would have needed way more words to Go all in with my Memories and Feelings. But I thought four parts would bei enough. Else I could have written a whole Page or Two. I actually shortened The Text already.
I have The whole Ultima collection at GOG, top. Of course.
Have you ever thought of a blog where you could write to your heart's content over time? Personally, I love reading this kind of story. I think other people might be interested. It's just an idea. :0)
@WoodooProd Actually, after having to cut The Text short I started to ponder writing The Text I Had in mind. Wasn't there a fitting platform in The fediverse? Perhaps I will. I have some more Games with Fond Memories.
:0)
Good question about a fediverse blog. I might be interested too! I'm going to take a close look at it. If you find it before I do..
We are looking for a #fediverse #blog ?
