Kiki🇺🇸: The chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) is a songbird belonging to the finch family (Fringillidae). It is found throughout Europe with the exception of the islands and northernmost Scandinavia, and its distribution area extends eastwards to central Siberia. It is also a breeding bird in North Africa and Western Asia up to and including Iran. In New Zealand and the Republic of South Africa, the chaffinch has been introduced by humans. The chaffinch reaches a body length of 14 to 18 centimetres. Individuals of the nominate form weigh between 18 and 25 grams. Kiki🇺🇸: The Eurasian Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) is a bird species in the nuthatch family. It reaches a body length of 12 to 14.5 centimeters. Unlike treecreepers and woodpeckers, it can climb upside down. It’s found in Europe, Northwest Africa, and Asia (except South and Southeast Asia). Its diet consists mainly of insects, insect eggs, and larvae. In autumn, seeds, berries, and nuts are added. 🇩🇪: Der Kleiber (Sitta europaea) ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Kleiber. Kiki🇺🇸: The goldcrest (Regulus regulus) is one of the smallest bird species in Europe. With a body length of around nine centimetres, it weighs only between four and seven grams. The goldcrest breeds in Europe, the Middle East, southwest Siberia and the mountains of Central and Middle Asia, and also breeds in Japan. It is basically a coniferous forest dweller with a strong connection to spruce and other short-needled tree species. Goldcrests only eat small arthropods, and the amount of food they eat each day is at least equal to their body weight. The food requirement for young birds, birds moulting or females laying eggs can double. 🇩🇪: Das Wintergoldhähnchen (Regulus regulus) ist eine der kleinsten Vogelarten Europas. Mit seinen etwa neun Zentimetern Körpergröße wiegt es nur zwischen vier und sieben Gramm. KikiI know I’m posting a lot of kestrels at the moment, but they’re just getting braver towards me🥹 This female placed her up in the tree after a few walkers passed by. I already knew she was less shy and took the chance. I didn’t look at her to find a place without backlighting and luckily she stayed and let me take photos. 🇺🇸: The kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is the most common falcon in Central Europe. It is relatively familiar to the public because it has also conquered cities and urban areas as its habitat and can often be seen hovering. Body size and wingspan vary greatly depending on the subspecies and individual. In the subspecies Falco tinnunculus tinnunculus found in Europe, males reach an average body length of 34.5 centimeters and females 36 centimeters. The average wingspan of males is just under 75 centimeters and that of the larger females is 76 centimeters. Studies have shown that females can differentiate between eleven different vocalizations and males over nine. KikiI saw this buzzard sitting there in the afternoon when the sun was already down. It really annoyed me because it was just too dark for a good photo. The next day I was even happier when it sat in the same place again while it was looking for mice. KikiIt was a cold day without sun but I still wanted to go looking for birds. Unfortunately there was nothing going on until I heard 2 black woodpeckers. I looked around carefully until I saw this male on a thin, bare tree. I had only seen his belly and had to fight my way through the snow and fir trees to see him from the side. It is quite small, with a total length of 13 to 16 centimeters, a round, spherical body and a noticeably long tail of 6 to 10 centimeters, which is where the species name comes from. The black beak is short and fine, measuring 6 to 7 millimeters in length. It weighs seven to ten grams and its wings are 6 to 7 centimeters long. The breeding range of this Palaearctic species extends over large parts of the temperate maritime and continental climate zones and extends into the boreal and subtropical zones. It inhabits habitats with richly structured edges and a frequent alternation between wooded or bushy and open areas.
