45-minute decant. Deep purple in the glass with pinkish rim. Black currant, dark fruit compote on the nose. Medium body. Spice, fruit-forward black fruit, some cherry, perhaps a little raspberry on the palate. Some sweetness with this 13.5% ABV wine (not overdone, from the fruit) mixed with oak and light acidity at the end. A little syrupy. Low tannins, medium finish.<br>

An easy drinking, crowd-pleasing wine that would be an inexpensive hit at your next party or wedding.<br>

Had the second glass with caprese salad, grilled mushrooms and zucchini with grated mozzarella and baguette. The wine held its own surprisingly well and didn’t clash with the tomatoes, as they were sweet and not tangy.<br>
