Cassana 🍻<p>Jamming on electric guitar… I think this one I've just recorded is pretty typical of me just having fun, breaking the rules (looped chord progression in D minor, but then, melody-wise that's the one with all the notes, right?), while still trying to keep things as musical as possible. Kritischer Fehlschlag<p><strong>Einfach mal die Klappe halten</strong></p><p>ich hab mal drüber nachgedacht, welche Schwächen ich als SL habe. Eine ganz blöde Idee und nicht zur Nachahmung empfohlen, denn die Liste wurde immer länger. Nachdem ich mich wieder beruhigt hatte, versuchte ich das mal in Reihenfolge zu bringen. Meine größte Schwäche ist definitiv, dass ich keine 2 Sekunden Stille am Tisch aushalte. Während die Spielenden überlegen, was sie wohl als nächstes machen, gerate ich in Panik und lasse irgendwas passieren. Dieser Reflex ist mir sehr bewusst und ich arbeite daran, es abzustellen.</p><em>Der hier hat’s drauf. Illustration by Jason Glover</em><p>Selbstverständlich brauchen die Spielenden nämlich ab und zu einen Moment, um Informationen zu verarbeiten oder sich Dinge selbst zu überlegen. Da hilft es nicht, wenn nach dem Flugzeugabsturz direkt ein Meteorit auf die Erde kracht. </p><p>Das Problem ist: Wie erkenne ich, ob eine Pause entsteht, weil die Spielenden kurz nachdenken oder weil sie nicht wissen, was sie tun sollen? Die Antwort: Gar nicht.</p><p>Als Spielleitung muss man sich ab und zu darauf verlassen, dass die Spielenden lebende, denkende Wesen sind, die schon Bescheid sagen, wenn sie mehr Information brauchen. Aus irgendeinem Grund fällt das als Spielleitung aber oft schwer. Das könnte damit zu tun haben, dass man auch nach Jahren noch immer relativ viel Adrenalin im Körper hat, wenn eine ganze Gruppe von Spielenden einem zuhört. Aus Gesprächen weiß ich jedenfalls, dass ich nicht der Einzige mit dem Problem bin. Zen ist noch nicht erreicht.</p><p>Ich habe mich ein bisschen mit dem Thema Aktives Zuhören auseinander gesetzt. Das ist ja eine Wissenschaft für sich und eigentlich generell ein guter Skill. Als Spielleitung ist es aber besonders schwer. Gerade in Sessions, in denen viel Dialog mit NPCs oder sonstige Improvisation ansteht, ist es sehr schwierig, sich voll auf das Zuhören zu konzentrieren, anstatt sich die nächsten drei Szenen zu überlegen. Aber es kann sich lohnen, indem die Ideen und Vorstellungen der Spielenden mehr Beachtung finden. Gerade, wenn man wie ich hauptsächlich Theater of Mind spielt, ist ein typischer Fallstrick, dass vor den geistigen Augen der Leute am Tisch sehr unterschiedliche Dinge entstehen. Aktives Zuhören hilft dabei, zu verstehen, was sich die Spielenden gerade vorstellen. Dann kann man entweder Verständnisprobleme korrigieren oder – oft noch besser – seine eigene Vorstellung der der Spielenden anpassen.</p><p>Das wiederum ist auch nicht ganz leicht, weil man als Spielleitung ja naturgemäß immer einen Informationsvorsprung hat. Die SL weiß als einzige am Tisch, was der NPC drei Räume weiter vorhat. Aber es führt in meiner Erfahrung zu allseits guter Laune, wenn man seine Pläne verwirft und stattdessen das passiert, was die Spielenden spekuliert haben. Das geht nicht immer, weil manchmal Dinge voneinander abhängen aber generell kann ich nur empfehlen, so oft wie möglich die eigenen Vorstellungen über Bord zu werfen, sobald Spielende bereits eine eigene Realität manifestiert haben. Denn so komisch das klingt: Das was eigentlich passieren sollte, fühlt sich für die Spieler dann eher falsch an. </p><p>Ein Beispiel: Ich beschreibe einen Höhleneingang. Irgendwie nehmen einer oder mehrere Spielende aus der Beschreibung mit, dass die Höhle einsturzgefährdet ist. Jetzt kann ich den Spielenden entweder erklären, dass sie etwas falsch verstanden haben, oder die Höhle ist halt jetzt kurz davor zusammenzubrechen und die Spielenden können die Decke mit ein paar Balken abstützen und sich sehr clever vorkommen. Insgesamt sorgt die zweite Lösung für den besseren Spielfluss. </p><p>Ein weiteres Beispiel, dass bestimmt jeder kennt: Ich beschreibe einen NPC und spiele seine Rolle. Die Spielenden haben definitiv ein Bild vor Augen. Oft ein Vergleich zu etwas popkulturellem. Als ich jünger war, habe ich mich oft darüber geärgert, wenn Spielende NPCs Spitznamen gaben oder ihnen Aussehen oder Eigenschaften zuordneten, die nicht so gedacht waren. Mittlerweile ist mir klar, dass das menschliche Gehirn einfach so funktioniert. Man merkt sich Dinge, indem man sie mit bereits Bekanntem verknüpft. Am besten ist es also, hier voll mitzugehen. Wenn die Spielenden finden, dass sich der Tavernenwirt wie Elton John anhört, sieht er jetzt auf jeden Fall auch so aus. Und summt ab und zu Rocket Man. Das macht eigentlich den meisten Leuten Spaß. </p><p>Und all diese Informationen über die Welt und die Situation erfährt man als SL nur, wenn man einfach mal die Klappe hält und die Spielenden einfach reden lässt. Improvisation ist immer mehr Reaktion als Aktion. </p><p>Wie handhabt ihr es, wenn Spielende etwas falsch verstehen?
