DoomsdaysCWSo, whenever possible, I stick to household solutions to remove rust -- lemon juice, baking soda, vinegar -- and a lot of elbow grease. As for rust-proofing the objects afterwards? That can be a bit problematic, since it seems most rust-preventing paints for metal contain PFAS (I'm looking into alternatives. Linseed oil paint might be good for metal). Mineral spirits and paraffin wax are another way to rust-proof metal, but both are petroleum products. Limonene and beeswax might be a petroleum-free way to rust-proof metal, but I haven't tried it yet (though I have both on hand). markc568Success!I picked up a “farm jack” and a 3/8” chain to pull a wood post set in concrete. This one was rotted off at ground level, so I had to dig down a bit to get the chain around the concrete. Jacking this succeeded in breaking off a big chunk (progress!), but leaving the post and most of the concrete in the ground still. I used a hammer and chisel to break additional concrete, exposing enough post to wrap the chain around. This had enough grip to pull the remainder out.
