I’m currently working on a book that examines what we can learn about how to live in an age of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/climatechange" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#climatechange</a> from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/yafiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#yafiction</a>. When I’m not writing and reading, I work with pre-service and in-service English <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/teachers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#teachers</a> and call the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/razorbacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#razorbacks</a>. Having lived in the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/west" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#west</a>, I’m an avid <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/hiker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#hiker</a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/outdoors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#outdoors</a> person.

smegAfter living in Fayetteville for over 6 years, I finally attended my first <a href="https://assortedflotsam.com/tags/Razorbacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Razorbacks</a> sports event. It was women's gymnastics. All of the pomp, the regalia, the hype effort, the rituals, the slogans, the patriotism, and the songs. All of it looks and behaves like a cult. People were cheering without having seen what they were cheering about. While I applaud the skills of the athletes, I doubt many in the stands had a true grip on the sport.
