Next - after checkin - is one where the old carriages have already been replaced by said Coradia-Max. God knows why you'd run such a train for this 5 minute 1 stop #crossborderrail service. At least not totally deserted. There are already enough descriptions what some consider bad about Cordia-Max, so no need for another one (the usual stuff). But luckily on the last line, which is only served at morning and evening rush hour, you can (for now) catch the iconic Z2.

Today I'm starting my train trip (#CrossBorderRail) from Lisbon, Portugal to Parma, Italy
On the plan:
- 10 trains
- 3 nights (unfortunately not on night trains)
- 4 countries and 4 companies
I'm visiting a friend in Madrid. Otherwise, it could have been faster, with "only" 7 trains and 2 nights 
Today it's a difficult one as I will have just 4 minutes to switch trains at Entroncamento. Will I make it? Anyone has suggestions of alternatives once I'm stranded?

@spacehobo suggested cycle.travel that looks good, but on two shorter trips I’ll evaluate this and other options
NEEDS
- route planning and saving on a computer and easily on an iPhone
- ability to share routes with others with a link, and export routes as GEOjson or equiv file
- turn by turn navigation (I have an old iPhone on a handlebar mount)

Nobody has checked my ticket either. The train is almost empty. And I even installed the Czech rail app to reserve a seat because it was impossible from the DB app.

We stop in Cham. Reading my book, I notice a German shepherd in my peripheral vision. 'Puppy!' I exclaim without thinking. The dog's human looks at me and smiles. Turns out both the dog and the human work for the customs. The dog has smelled something and another human, wearing disposable gloves, goes through a white man's backpack, opening his toiletries and smelling them. They find nothing.
