I think we all know the story of the king who lived in a towne where the local well was poisoned and everyone in the city went mad EXCEPT the king (b/c he had his own private well.)

The people started talking about how *the king* had gone mad and plotted to kill him.

So, to save his own life, the king drank from the public well, went mad, and everyone cheered, "The king is sane again!"
