Right from the introduction, everything is done to project you into a story that captures you. I mean, you can imagine sleeping under this tree. This introductory text can only make you want to explore the game. To embrace this principle of virtue. I think that, at the end of the day, the goal in life is also to aspire to become better. Yes, in today's world, that sounds utopian, but in the end, what a great lesson! :0)

The game may seem very simple at first, but it soon reveals great richness and depth. And I'm only at the beginning of the adventure. :0)
@BlindSeer Ultima III was the first RPG I played in my early teens (1983?), but Ultima IV was the one that really swept me away. A deceptively rich, multilayered adventure.
@shoogle I played IV first, then with a friend on the phone Ultima "indirectly". He played, I knew the map and gave directions and the mantras. And some sessions together. Later I ordered the original triology in one box and we were both so excited to unpack it together and see where it all started.
@BlindSeer Nice! The cloth maps and illustrated spellbooks that came in the box really made it special, too. Did you end up playing the later games? I think VII is considered the pinnacle of the series, with things going rapidly downhill from there... I never finished VIII and didn't bother with the mess of IX.

IIRC my Computer Wasn't able to run VII. But since I'm a bit on a retro Run I will go for it. I think I have everything with the name "Ultima" on GOG. 
I read about IX, of what was planned and what came out. Even a whole Webpage about Errors, mistakes and unlogic in it. 
@BlindSeer Oh yeah, GOG is awesome for these! You get scans of the maps and books and everything, it's fantastic. VII is definitely worth a look, I remember how much fuss was made about its darker tone and pixelated blood. Such innocent times they were...
